Under the leadership of CM Yogi, the Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA) has already finished around 70 percent of the installation work, while the remaining 160 solar street lights will be placed before January 22.
A 10.2 kilometer length has 470 solar street lights.
According to Praveen Nath Pandey, the project officer of UPNEDA (Ayodhya), by January 22, Ayodhya will set a world record by installing 470 solar street lights over a 10.2 km stretch from Lakshman Ghat to Guptar Ghat, with the remaining 30 percent scheduled for completion shortly.
He said that as part of the project, 310 solar lights have been placed between Lakshman Ghat and Guptar Ghat, and 160 solar-powered street lights are currently being installed in the 1.85 km stretch between Guptar Ghat and Nirmali Kund. These solar-powered street lights all have smart technology, run at 4.4 watts, and are LED-based. The 10.2 kilometer length from Lakshman Ghat to Nirmali Kund will be radiantly lit thanks to their installation.
UP Govt aiming at surpassing new record
The world record that the state government aims to break through a solar energy-powered project is currently registered in the name of Malham, Saudi Arabia, where 468 solar-powered lights were installed throughout 9.7 km in 2021. Now, the Yogi government is gearing up to surpass this record in Ayodhya by installing 470 solar-powered lights in an area spanning 10.2 km.
Prior to that, on Diwali in 2023, 25,000 volunteers from Avadh University ignited 22.23 lakh lamps together at the Sarayu ghats, earning Ayodhya a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records. When Lord Ram's statue is installed in Ayodhya's majestic Ram Janmabhoomi temple on January 22, the city will create a new record by running the longest string of solar-powered street lights in the Guinness Book of World Records.
